Which Achilles community or registration do we need?
The correct Achilles community depends on the customer, sector and tender requirement. For example, UVDB is widely used within the UK utilities sector, while Achilles operates other sector-specific supplier communities. We can help review the buyer or tender wording, but the final registration requirement remains with the purchasing organisation and Achilles.
What is Achilles UVDB?
UVDB Powered by Achilles is a supplier prequalification community used by utilities buyers in the UK. Suppliers complete registration and an online prequalification questionnaire so participating buyers can review their capabilities, information and compliance evidence.
Does every supplier need an Achilles Verify audit?
No. The need for a Verify audit depends on the Achilles community, buyer requirement, supplier activities and risk profile. Where an audit is required, the scope and format are determined by the applicable Achilles requirements and buyer expectations.
What is the difference between Achilles and SSIP?
Achilles provides supplier registration, prequalification, verification and audit services through its sector communities. SSIP is a separate mutual-recognition framework for occupational health and safety assessments. SSIP does not normally assess suppliers directly; certification is issued through an SSIP registered member scheme. A customer may require Achilles registration, SSIP certification or both.
Can our existing SSIP certificate be recognised by another scheme?
Often, yes. SSIP member schemes operate mutual recognition arrangements, commonly referred to as Deem to Satisfy, which can allow a valid assessment from one registered member scheme to be recognised by another. The exact process, any additional checks and applicable fees depend on the member scheme and the customer requirement.
What evidence is normally required?
Requirements vary according to the community, questionnaire, audit scope and SSIP member scheme. Evidence may include company information, insurance, health and safety arrangements, environmental and quality controls, competence records, performance information, sustainability evidence and records showing that the arrangements are implemented in practice.
Can you help with Verify audit preparation, renewals or findings?
Yes. We can review the relevant audit protocol or renewal requirements, identify missing or expired evidence, help prepare the business for the applicable Verify audit activity and support corrective actions following audit findings.
Can you guarantee registration, certification or a successful audit result?
No. Achilles, the relevant SSIP member scheme and purchasing organisations control their own decisions, assessment criteria and timescales. We can help prepare evidence and address gaps but cannot guarantee an outcome, buyer selection or contract award.
