Businesses seeking an objective review before a customer, accreditation or certification assessment, organisations completing an internal audit programme and management teams that need clearer assurance across particular sites, processes or compliance responsibilities.

Common reasons to act

  • A customer, tender, accreditation or certification assessment is approaching
  • Management needs an objective view of compliance strengths and weaknesses
  • Performance, documentation or operating standards vary between sites or teams
  • Incidents, complaints, repeated findings or overdue actions indicate that controls may not be working
  • An ISO internal audit programme requires competent additional support
  • A particular process, workplace risk or compliance requirement needs focused review

What you receive

  • A written audit scope confirming the objectives, criteria, locations, activities and agreed exclusions
  • A proportionate review of relevant documents, records, interviews and workplace evidence
  • A closing discussion explaining significant strengths, gaps and immediate priorities
  • A written report linking findings to the agreed criteria and supporting evidence
  • Findings categorised using a method suitable for the audit scope, such as non-conformities, observations, opportunities for improvement or prioritised compliance actions
  • A practical action tracker showing priorities, suggested timescales and space to assign responsible owners
  • Clearly defined close-out requirements and optional follow-up arrangements

Consultancy fees depend on the audit objective, criteria, number of sites, workforce, operational risk, complexity, document-review requirements, reporting format, travel and whether follow-up verification is included. Certification-body, laboratory, testing and other third-party fees are paid separately by the client.

Practical support

How Morgan Compliance Group can help

The audit scope is agreed before work begins.

Support can include:

  • health and safety management audits
  • ISO internal audits
  • environmental-management reviews
  • accreditation-readiness assessments
  • customer or supplier compliance audits
  • focused reviews of individual processes or risks

Evidence may be gathered through document and record sampling, interviews and workplace observation where appropriate.

A workplace inspection usually concentrates on current physical conditions and activities, while an audit examines the wider arrangements, responsibilities, implementation and evidence against defined criteria.

Our consultancy supports, but does not replace, your legal health and safety duties. Advice is given within the agreed scope and relies on accurate information from you. See our Terms of Service for full details.

04

Close and verify

The client assigns and implements corrective actions, with follow-up review or verification provided where separately agreed.

Frequently asked questions

What types of compliance audit can you provide?

The scope can cover health and safety management, environmental arrangements, ISO internal audits, accreditation readiness, customer or supplier requirements and focused reviews of individual sites, processes or risks. The objectives and criteria are confirmed before the audit begins.

What is the difference between an audit, an inspection and a gap analysis?

An inspection generally concentrates on current workplace conditions, equipment or activities. An audit examines wider responsibilities, processes, implementation and evidence against agreed criteria. A gap analysis compares the current position with specified requirements, often before implementation, accreditation or certification work begins.

Is this a certification audit or regulatory inspection?

No. Morgan Compliance Group provides consultancy reviews and outsourced internal-audit support. We do not act as HSE, another enforcing authority or a certification body and cannot issue certificates or exercise regulatory powers.

Can you audit one process or more than one site?

Yes. The scope can focus on a single process, risk or requirement or cover several departments or locations. Multi-site work is planned according to the activities, risk profile, consistency of arrangements and level of sampling required.

What evidence will be reviewed?

Evidence depends on the agreed criteria and may include policies, procedures, risk assessments, training and competence records, monitoring results, incident information, operational records, interviews and workplace observations. Audits use proportionate sampling because it is not normally possible to examine every record or activity.

How are audit findings categorised?

The reporting method is agreed to suit the audit criteria. Findings may include conformity, non-conformity, potential non-compliance, observations, good practice and opportunities for improvement. Priorities may also reflect the significance of the risk and the urgency of the required action. Consultancy findings do not represent a certification body’s decision.

Does passing an audit guarantee legal compliance or certification?

No. An audit provides an evidence-based assessment within an agreed scope and at a particular point in time. It cannot guarantee legal compliance, prevent incidents or enforcement action or guarantee the outcome of a customer, accreditation or certification assessment.

Who is responsible for completing corrective actions?

The client remains responsible for deciding, assigning, implementing and maintaining corrective actions. Morgan Compliance Group can help clarify findings, develop proportionate actions and review close-out evidence where this is included within the agreed scope.

Can the audit be completed remotely?

Some document reviews, interviews and focused internal audits can be completed remotely. On-site work is normally appropriate where physical conditions, operational practices, worker involvement or site-specific controls need to be observed. The proposed method is confirmed when the scope is agreed.

Are audit reports confidential?

Audit information and reports are handled as confidential client information, subject to the agreed terms, legal requirements and any authorised distribution requested by the client. Any intended sharing with customers, certification bodies or other parties should be agreed by the client.

Can you audit a system that you helped us implement?

Potential conflicts are considered before the audit begins. Where Morgan Compliance Group has supported implementation, the scope, auditor responsibilities and review arrangements will be agreed to preserve appropriate objectivity and avoid presenting consultancy work as independent third-party certification.

How long does an audit take and what affects the fee?

Timescales and fees depend on the audit objectives, criteria, number of sites, workforce, operational complexity, document-review requirements, reporting format and whether follow-up verification is required. The scope, timetable and consultancy fee are confirmed before work begins.
