Practical support

How Morgan Compliance Group can help

We begin by defining the proposed certification scope and mapping the organisation’s key processes and their interactions.

A gap analysis is then used to identify existing strengths, missing controls and implementation or transition priorities.

Support can include:

  • customer and interested-party requirements
  • leadership responsibilities
  • quality culture and ethical behaviour
  • risks and opportunities
  • planning of changes
  • quality objectives
  • competence
  • supplier controls
  • operational planning
  • customer feedback
  • complaints
  • non-conformities
  • documented information
  • performance monitoring
  • internal audits
  • management review
  • corrective action

The system is built around day-to-day operations so that it improves process control and customer outcomes rather than becoming a separate collection of documents.

Our consultancy supports, but does not replace, your legal health and safety duties. Advice is given within the agreed scope and relies on accurate information from you. Accreditation and certification decisions are made independently by the relevant bodies. See our Terms of Service for full details.

Complete internal audit and management-review activities, address corrective actions and prepare the organisation for independent certification assessment.

Frequently asked questions

What is ISO 9001 and is it suitable for our business?

ISO 9001 specifies requirements for a quality management system focused on consistent processes, customer requirements, performance and continual improvement. It can be applied by organisations of different sizes and sectors, including manufacturers, contractors, service providers, distributors and professional businesses.

What is the current edition of ISO 9001?

ISO 9001:2026 is the current published edition and replaced ISO 9001:2015 in September 2026. Organisations with existing ISO 9001:2015 certification should plan their transition with their certification body and review the changes against their existing quality management system.

What changed in ISO 9001:2026?

The 2026 revision is an evolution rather than a complete redesign. Key changes include stronger emphasis on leadership, quality culture and ethical behaviour, clearer treatment of risks and opportunities, closer alignment with strategic direction, planning of changes and updated management-review expectations.

When must existing ISO 9001:2015 certification transition?

UKAS has stated that UKAS-accredited certification bodies must transition certified customers to ISO 9001:2026 by 30 September 2029. Certification bodies must stop accepting new applications against the previous edition by 16 March 2028. Individual organisations should confirm their planned transition timetable directly with their certification body.

Is ISO 9001 certification compulsory?

Certification is generally voluntary, but it may be required by a customer, tender, framework, contract or approved-supplier arrangement. A business may also implement ISO 9001 without seeking certification where its objective is better process control and operational improvement.

Do we need a large quality manual?

A large standalone quality manual is not normally necessary. The documented information should be proportionate to the organisation, its activities and the needs of its quality management system. A concise manual or system overview may still be useful where it helps staff, customers or auditors understand how the system operates.

Can we use our existing processes and documents?

Yes. Existing processes, policies, procedures, forms and records are reviewed first and retained where they are suitable. New documents should only be created where a genuine control, evidence or communication need exists.

How does ISO 9001 deal with complaints and non-conformities?

The quality management system should provide controlled methods for receiving and reviewing customer feedback, managing complaints, controlling non-conforming outputs, investigating causes and implementing corrective action. The purpose is to prevent recurrence and use evidence to improve performance.

What are internal audits and management reviews?

Internal audits test whether the quality management system conforms to planned arrangements and operates effectively. Management review is the formal evaluation by senior management of performance, customer feedback, objectives, audit findings, risks, opportunities, changes and improvement needs.

How long does ISO 9001 implementation take?

Timescales depend on the business size, number of locations, process complexity, available resources, current controls and required certification date. A realistic implementation plan is agreed after the initial gap analysis.

What happens after ISO 9001 certification?

The certification body will normally establish an ongoing audit programme that includes surveillance and later recertification activity. The organisation must continue operating, auditing, reviewing and improving its quality management system between certification-body visits.

Should we use a UKAS-accredited certification body and can you guarantee certification?

Where recognised accredited certification is required, the certification body should hold suitable UKAS accreditation for ISO 9001 and the relevant technical scope. UKAS accredits certification bodies rather than ordinary businesses. Morgan Compliance Group can help prepare the system and address gaps but cannot guarantee the certification decision.
